I suppose the first time you get your work published is always special – that tender sense of wonder (tinged with some insecurity), almost like a first romance. And while I often wonder if I’m doing things correctly in my pursuit of writing, the fact that finally, finally my words are in print is possibly the best encouragement to keep going.
That piece of encouragement is called “Eastern Heathens: An Anthology of Subverted Asian Folklore“. My tale “First Weave” is featured inside. Come to think of it, the title seems apt far beyond the context of the tale itself, being my first published piece of fiction. In any case, I think there are gems in the collection far better than my own. And you should pick up a copy if you’re interested.
